In the summer of 1971, Bernie Vlahakis was the Houston-based distributor for a national muffler manufacturer. His customer base grew to the point that he needed a trailer to haul all the mufflers he sold.
 

After an exhaustive search, Bernie purchased a trailer directly from a manufacturer. On each of his customer visits, the clients were more interested in his new trailer than the mufflers they had purchased. Ever the entrepreneur, Bernie sensed a void in a growing market, and – with the simple goal of selling quality trailers and trailer parts to his neighbors at a fair price – Trailer Wheel & Frame was born.
